Come and join us for a relaxed Sunday evening in the company of some incredibly accomplished Jazz musicians as acclaimed local musician and Jazz supremo Anj Perin brings a curated line up of talent to Pioneer!

Anjali Perin is a singer, pianist, violinist, songwriter, and producer specialising in jazz, funk and soul. She loves to combine her love of improvisation and storytelling in beautiful interpretations of jazz standards and blues alongside her skill in vocalese writing Since graduating from Jazz Masters programme at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2005, she has performed across top venues the UK and Europe, including at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, the 606 Club, appearing at the EFG London Jazz festival, Love Supreme Festival, Latitude festival and The Montreux Jazz Festival as part of an event hosted by the late Quincy Jones.

Her album, First Reflection, was released by Jazzizit Records and she has been highly regarded on the UK jazz scene for over 20 years. Anjali is also a resident musicologist for on BBC6 Music, who presents on the Huw Stephens’ drivetime show, delving into music geekery as part of “6 Musicology’ every few weeks.

Anjali’s trio features the stellar talents of pianist Bruno d’Ambra, bassist Huw V Williams and drummer Tim Giles, all of whom are highly sought after players on the British jazz scene and who are local to Hertfordshire. Expect some high energy bebop, some soulful blues and slow, intimate ballads at what we hope will be the first of many regular jazz nights at the Pioneer.
